This Saturday, in the heart of Kernville for the 50th annual river run car show was a weekend for the books. The atmosphere was charged, with 5 decades of tradition, and for Cob, it ended on a high note. William Dean showed off his pristine C6. It’s been a project of passion. Each polished part represented hours of work in the garage. Marv Wendt displayed his stunning 1960 Cadillac. It’s a work of art with a history and elegance. You just don’t see anymore. Both of these members brought home will deserve awards. It wasn’t just about the hardware. It was about honoring the work.The friendship and the shared love of the drive.

Congratulations to our Corvettes of Bakersfield club members, Adrian and Mitch. Both Corvettes won awards at the Streets of Bakersfield – Cruizin-4-Charity car show 2026. Adrian Medina’s 2021 Corvette was chosen as the “Best Modern American Car.” Mitch Townsend’s 1972 Corvette won “Best Sports Car.”

Seven Corvettes from Corvettes of Bakersfield represented our club. We had a scary start with two of our cars picking up screws in our tires before leaving Bakersfield. Some of us visited the Grand Canyon via the Williams Train on the way to Prescott. Others drove through challenging weather with heavy desert rains. It rained off and on during the car show, but we didn’t melt. We had a great time and a safe trip home. Kim Miller won the Judge’s Choice award for her purple C5.

Corvettes of Bakersfield was well represented today at the Outlets at Tejon’s 5th Annual Car Show. Parked in the premier spaces under the solar panels, six COB members attended with two walking away with top awards. The 1st place winners were Mitch Townsend in the C4-C8 category with his 2024 C8 Z06 and Ed Combs won 1st place with his 1962 C1 in the C1-C3 category. Congratulations guys!
